The Brandeis University softball team achieved a series victory against Carnegie Mellon, splitting a doubleheader on April 11. The Judges opened with a decisive 5-0 win, highlighted by a two-run homer from sophomore Jordan Wallace and a solo shot from senior Bells Burdenski. In the second game, Brandeis fell short, losing 2-1, but the split secured the series win, improving their record to 18-11 overall and 5-4 in the University Athletic Association. Earlier in the week, the Judges had rallied to defeat Carnegie Mellon 7-4 in the series opener, showcasing strong relief pitching and a mid-game offensive surge.
In track and field, the Judges participated in the Tufts Spring Stampede meet over the weekend, where they recorded three event wins and numerous personal records. The men’s team, under the mentorship of Professor Jerome Tharaud, who is also a former NCAA runner, demonstrated their competitive spirit and skill, contributing to a successful outing for Brandeis. The meet provided a platform for both teams to showcase their talent, with several athletes achieving top ten finishes across various events.
The Brandeis swimming and diving teams also received recognition this week, as eight members were named to the 2026 Division III Academic All-District teams by the College Sports Communicators. Among the honorees, senior D'Arcy Anselmi and junior Luke Abrahamson stood out with impressive GPAs of 3.78 and 3.93, respectively. This acknowledgment highlights the student-athletes' commitment to both their academic and athletic pursuits, reflecting the values of Brandeis University.
