The Middlebury women's track and field team is poised to pursue its fourth NESCAC Championship in five years as it heads to Williams for the two-day event starting Saturday. The Panthers have consistently performed well at this meet, finishing in the top three in 11 of the last 12 editions. Julia Tulimieri, the reigning champion in the shot put, leads the team, having set the conference's best distance at 12.49 meters. Meanwhile, the men's team seeks to defend its title after winning the championship last year. Donnell Harvey Jr. looks to repeat his success in the 100-meter dash, while the squad aims for back-to-back titles for only the second time in program history. Both teams are under the guidance of head coach Martin Beatty, who has received multiple coaching accolades over the years.
In baseball, Chase Zidlicky has been named the NESCAC Pitcher of the Week following a standout performance against Wesleyan. Zidlicky struck out eight batters and allowed just three baserunners in a seven-inning, 7-0 victory during Saturday's doubleheader. This recognition marks the first time the rookie has received the honor, and he leads the team with 36.1 innings pitched this season. The Panthers will conclude their non-conference schedule with a game against Vermont State University Castleton on Wednesday.
The Middlebury men's squash team has also achieved recognition, with four student-athletes earning College Squash Association (CSA) Scholar Athlete honors. Ronin Kaplan, Kian Kardestuncer, Theo Kogan, and David Zhao were recognized for their academic and athletic excellence. The team finished the season with ten victories and reached the league semifinals. Similarly, the women's squash team saw five of its members—Lindsey Burnham, Abbie Peterson, Izzy Ronda, Madeline Schwarz, and Sabrina Schwarz—receive the same accolade, contributing to a successful season that included a record-setting ten consecutive wins.
Lastly, the Middlebury men's golf team is set to compete in the NESCAC Championship this weekend in East Haddam, Connecticut. The Panthers are looking to capture their 11th league title, with Charlie Schulman leading the squad after a strong performance in recent tournaments. The three-day championship begins Friday at the Fox Hopyard Golf Club, where the Panthers aim to improve on last year's fifth-place finish.
