Colby College’s swimming and diving program celebrates a significant academic achievement as seven student-athletes are named to the Academic All-District® team by College Sport Communicators. Among the honorees are Ethan Chang, Aria Kapoor, Caitlin Lacey, Savannah Lombardi, Alexander MacLennan, Brandon Morrison, and Kellen Mottl. Notably, Chang and Mottl have now received this recognition three times, while MacLennan is a two-time recipient. This award highlights the balance of athletic and academic excellence, as nominees must maintain a minimum 3.50 GPA and compete at a high level. The announcement of Academic All-America® honorees will follow on April 28.
In track and field, Colby’s teams delivered strong performances at the Maine States' Pine Tree Classic held at Bates College on April 17-18. The women’s team secured second place out of ten teams, with standout performances including Charlotte Brake-Hoffman’s victory in the 100 meters (12.04 seconds) and Simone Waheed’s win in the 200 meters (24.41 seconds). Kaitlyn Ewald led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 400 meters, finishing in 57.40 seconds, followed closely by Olivia Doherty and Alex Hermsdorf. The men’s team also finished second, with Patrick Kuprewicz winning the 110-meter hurdles and Lexington Lehnert taking first in the pole vault. Brady Clegg triumphed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, contributing to a successful outing for the Mules as they prepare for the upcoming NESCAC Championships.
