The Emory men's golf team captured the title at the Discover Dekalb Emory Invitational, edging out Sewanee by a single stroke thanks to a dramatic final birdie putt from junior Kevin Mu. Mu, who finished with an impressive total of 208 (-8) over three rounds, also secured the individual title, winning by six strokes. Graduate student Pearse Lucas followed closely behind, finishing second with a score of 214 (-2). Senior Brian Hanson and freshman Dru Devata contributed to the team's success, placing 14th and 22nd, respectively. This victory marks a significant achievement for the #7 ranked Eagles, who posted a tournament total of 873 (+9) to triumph on their home course.
Meanwhile, the #1 ranked Emory women's golf team dominated the Deb Jackson Invitational, winning by 12 strokes with a total score of 577 (+9) to secure the team title for the third consecutive year. Freshman Xinyi Zheng shone brightly, capturing the individual title with a score of 141 (-1), marking her third individual victory of the season. Junior Esther Jung also made a strong showing, finishing second with a score of 145 (+3). Sophomore Zimo Li tied for fourth with a score of 146 (+4), while junior Carys Code and sophomore Covi Yan rounded out the scoring with sixth and eleventh place finishes, respectively.
In track and field, the Eagles prepare for the UAA Championships in Cleveland, OH, this weekend. The team is coming off a successful split weekend, highlighted by strong performances at the Georgia Tech Invitational and the Mount Laurel Open. Notably, sophomore Ari Klasky excelled, winning events in both the shot put and discus at the Mount Laurel Open. He achieved marks of 16.33m and 48.19m, respectively, contributing to a strong showing from the throwers. Jeanette Hydukovich also had a standout performance, winning in the shot put and discus. The Eagles will look to build on this momentum as they compete for conference titles in the upcoming championships.
