The Tufts University women's outdoor track and field team secured its fifth New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) championship on April 26, marking the program's first title since 2013. The Jumbos showcased their strength by winning four individual events and the 4x100-meter relay, finishing with a team score of 152.5, ahead of runner-up Williams College (135 points). Simi Lawal, Arielle Chechile, and Emma Gall each claimed individual titles, while the 4x100 relay team, composed of Lauren Zipoli, Makayla Moriarty, Chechile, and Lawal, set a new meet record with a time of 46.51 seconds, eclipsing the previous mark of 46.61 set in 2024.
In swimming, Tufts junior Jack Nussbaum earned a spot on the 2025-26 Academic All-America® men's swimming and diving team, recognized for his academic and athletic accomplishments. Nussbaum, a second-team honoree, competed at the NCAA Championships, where he placed 23rd in the 200 breaststroke and 30th in the 100 breaststroke, despite battling illness. His performance at the NESCAC Championships included a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, where he set a new school record with a time of 1:58.97. Meanwhile, senior Madeleine Dunn was named to the Academic All-America® third team in women's swimming and diving, distinguishing herself as one of the top student-athletes in the nation. Dunn, a biopsychology major with a 3.73 GPA, has been a consistent performer in the pool and a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American.
In softball, the Jumbos split a doubleheader against local rival MIT on April 28. After dropping the first game 6-3, Tufts rebounded to win the second game 6-4, thanks to a two-run sixth inning. The Jumbos now hold a 26-8 record, while MIT improved to 27-7.
Baseball saw sophomore Jack Kamin earn NESCAC Player of the Week honors after a standout performance that helped Tufts secure a 3-1 record against Roger Williams and Trinity College. Kamin's impressive week included an 8-for-15 batting performance, extending his hit streak to 18 games and solidifying his status as a key player for the Jumbos as they prepare for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament.
