The Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team showcased its dominance in the NESCAC Quarterfinals, defeating sixth-seeded Williams College 14-3 on April 26. This victory marks the Cardinals' sixth consecutive appearance in the NESCAC Semifinals. Izzy Weintraub '26, who was named NESCAC Player of the Week, continued her stellar performance with ten saves, including nine consecutive stops that contributed to a scoreless streak for Williams that lasted over 49 minutes. The Cardinals will face second-seeded Tufts next Saturday at top-seeded Middlebury.
In men's lacrosse, the Wesleyan Cardinals faced a heartbreaking end to their NESCAC Tournament run, falling 10-9 to Hamilton College in the quarterfinals on April 26. After trailing 7-4, Wesleyan rallied to tie the game late in the fourth quarter. However, Hamilton's Thomas Healy scored the decisive goal with just 15 seconds remaining, eliminating the Cardinals from the tournament. The loss concludes a season where Wesleyan finished with an 11-4 record.
The Wesleyan softball team rebounded from a four-game losing streak to sweep No. 15 Colby College in a crucial doubleheader on April 25. The Cardinals won the first game 6-4 and followed with a 5-1 victory in the second, improving their record to 16-13 overall and 6-8 in NESCAC play. In the opener, Molly Lennon '26 and Nicole Celi '27 led the offense, while Whitney Gigante '28 contributed a key two-out single in the fifth inning. The wins are significant as they help Wesleyan gain ground in the league standings, moving ahead of Amherst and Bates.
As the season progresses, the Wesleyan baseball team faced a setback, losing 4-1 to Vassar College on April 25. The Cardinals struggled offensively, managing only one run despite Tanner Mahon '26 striking out three batters in his outing. The team will look to bounce back in their upcoming games as they aim to improve their performance in the final stretch of the season.
