The Colby College women's lacrosse team, seeded seventh in the NESCAC tournament, faced a challenging matchup against second-seeded Tufts University in the quarterfinals on April 25. In baseball, Colby concluded its regular season with a split against Bowdoin College on April 26. The Mules dropped a closely contested first game 6-5, despite leading 5-1 at one point. Matt Higgins pitched effectively for Colby, but the Polar Bears rallied in the sixth inning. In the second game, Colby rebounded with a 7-6 victory, highlighted by a five-run second inning, including a solo home run from Duncan Cullinane. This split brought the Mules’ season record to 19-13.
The Colby softball team, ranked 15th nationally, faced a tough doubleheader against Wesleyan University on April 26, losing both games 6-4 and 5-1. The Mules struggled to find their rhythm early in both contests, falling behind significantly before showing signs of life in the final innings. Avery Lyman and Victoria Ramirez were key contributors in the first game, but the Mules could not complete the comeback.
The Colby men's and women's track and field teams are set to compete in the NESCAC Championships at Williams College this weekend. The women's team boasts several top contenders, including Simone Waheed, who aims to defend her title in the 100m event. The men's team will look to Levi Biery, the reigning champion in the 400m hurdles, as they seek strong performances in the two-day championship format for the first time in conference history.
