Colgate University’s softball team finished the regular season on a high note, sweeping Bucknell in a three-game series and securing the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Patriot League tournament. The Raiders triumphed with scores of 8-0 and 6-1 on Saturday, followed by a 10-2 victory on Sunday. Nora Megenity made headlines by breaking the program record for most runs scored in a single season with her 49th run, while Kayla Martin and Marina Taveras each contributed significantly to the offense. In the first game, Taveras hit a three-run homer, and Martin followed with a two-run shot, showcasing Colgate's power at the plate. The pitching duo of Kelcie McGraw and Maya Servidio allowed just one earned run across 11 innings during Saturday's doubleheader, solidifying their dominance on the mound. With this sweep, Colgate enters the postseason riding a six-game winning streak, poised for the Patriot League Championships set for May 15-16.
In rowing, the Raiders faced off against Lehigh in a Senior Day competition, celebrating their 11 seniors while achieving two first-place finishes. The event highlighted the team’s depth and competitive spirit as they prepare for the upcoming championship season.
The Colgate men's lacrosse team concluded its season with a loss to Loyola in the Patriot League semifinals, falling 13-8. The Raiders struggled to keep pace after an early deficit, with Casey Quinson and Quinn Spillett providing some scoring spark but unable to overcome Loyola's offensive pressure. Despite the loss, Quinson and teammate Hunter Drouin were recognized for their academic achievements, earning spots on the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a testament to their success both on the field and in the classroom.
The men's track and field team participated in the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton, marking their final meet before the Patriot League Championships. This event served as a crucial tune-up, allowing athletes to refine their performances ahead of the competitive postseason.
As Colgate athletics moves forward, the focus now shifts to the upcoming Patriot League Championships for softball and track and field, while rowing prepares for its own championship events in the near future.
