The Middlebury women's golf team captured its first title of the season at the Northeast Invitational, finishing with a two-day score of 598. Competing at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, Massachusetts, the Panthers outpaced #18 Bowdoin, #7 Amherst, and #5 Williams to claim the championship. Ella Han, Morgan Lee, and Season Wei each tied for fifth place with scores of 148, showcasing a strong performance that included Han's team-best 73 on the final day and Wei's career-best 71 in the first round. Julia Hua rounded out the scoring for Middlebury, finishing tied for 17th.
In track and field, both the men's and women's teams excelled at the Middlebury Invitational held at the Allan Dragone Track & Field Complex. The men's squad claimed eight event titles, demonstrating depth across various disciplines, while the women's team achieved an impressive 14 event victories, including a sweep of the field events. These performances reflect the Panthers' strong preparation as they approach the championship season.
Baseball had a productive week, sweeping a doubleheader against Wesleyan. The Panthers won the first game decisively, 7-0, with a standout performance from pitcher Chase Zidlicky, who retired the first 12 batters he faced. In the second game, Middlebury continued its momentum with a 7-3 victory, highlighted by a strong offensive showing that included multiple players contributing to the scoring.
Softball faced a challenging weekend, dropping two games against #12 Tufts after a split against #14 Colby earlier in the week. The Panthers fell 5-1 in the first game against Tufts and then suffered a 16-1 defeat in the second. However, they managed to secure a thrilling 9-5 victory in the opener against Colby, highlighted by a strong ninth inning that saw them score four runs. Despite the setbacks, the team remains competitive in the NESCAC standings.
The Middlebury women's lacrosse team continued its dominance, defeating #5 Amherst 13-7. The Panthers showcased a strong defensive effort, holding the Mammoths scoreless for over 32 minutes during the match. Caroline Adams opened the scoring, and the team maintained control throughout, with key contributions from Maddie Ackerman and Maeve Lee. This victory solidifies their position as a top contender in the league as they head into the final stretch of the season.
