The Washington University in St. Louis men's track and field team, ranked No. 13, sits in first place after the first day of the UAA Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, accumulating 69 points. Meanwhile, the No. 3 women's team is in second with 64 points, highlighted by four event wins, including the 4x800 relay and the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Sophomore Hailey Weir led the Bears by securing the second-fastest time in the 400 meters prelims, while senior Jasmine Wright posted the top time in the 100 meters. Both teams will look to build on their strong starts as they head into the final day of competition.
In baseball, the No. 14 Bears opened their series against Case Western Reserve University with two decisive victories. They won the first game 12-2, capitalizing on an explosive third inning where they scored 11 runs. Sophomore Ryan Soong's leadoff walk set the tone, and contributions from junior Anthony Equale and senior Shane Pellegrino helped solidify the win. The Bears improved to 28-9 overall and 12-6 in UAA play.
The No. 6 WashU softball team completed a series sweep of Carnegie Mellon, winning both games on Senior Day. In the first game, the Bears secured a 3-0 victory, with senior Sydney Schneider and sophomore Harper Nix leading the offensive charge. The second game saw WashU triumph 6-3, beginning with a strong first inning that included a run from first-year Julia Sullo. The Bears now boast a record of 25-3-1 and a 13-2 mark in UAA play, continuing their strong season as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
