The Emory University softball team delivered a commanding performance against New York University, sweeping a doubleheader on April 24. Freshman pitcher Sydney Thune highlighted the day by throwing the 18th no-hitter in program history during the first game, leading the Eagles to a 13-0 victory. Thune's complete game featured seven strikeouts and no hits allowed. Emory's offense was equally impressive, with contributions from Ella Janish and Megan Sutton, who both scored multiple runs. The Eagles continued their strong play in the second game, winning 5-1, thanks to a balanced offensive effort that included key hits from Allie Stevenson and Ellie Zerr. This doubleheader followed a successful non-conference sweep against #9 Huntingdon, where Emory overcame a six-game winning streak by the Hawks with an 8-6 win in the first game and a solid 5-1 victory in the second.
In track and field, the Emory women's team opened the University Athletic Association Outdoor Championships on April 26 in impressive fashion, finishing the first day in first place with 77 points. Abigail Roberts won the hammer throw, while Elizabeth Csikai broke the 10,000m record, finishing sixth with a time of 36:36.15. The men's team, competing on the same day, ended in fourth place with 36 points, highlighted by Henry Brandstadter's UAA championship in the long jump and Ari Klasky's second-place finish in the shot put.
The Emory baseball team faced challenges in their final series against Brandeis, dropping three of four games over the weekend. After a 2-0 victory in the first game of a doubleheader on April 25, where senior Josh Zuckerman pitched a complete game shutout, the Eagles fell 6-0 and 7-5 in the subsequent games. Junior Jake Lawson's four-RBI performance in the finale provided a bright spot, but it was not enough to secure a win. The Eagles will look to regroup as they conclude their season with a focus on building for the future.
