The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked sixth nationally, faced a challenging weekend at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship held at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Tartans began their tournament on April 24 with a strong performance against 26th-ranked New York University, securing a decisive 4-0 victory. This win advanced them to the semifinals, where they faced fourth-ranked University of Chicago on April 25. Unfortunately, the Tartans were edged out in a 4-0 match, leading them to the third-place contest against eighth-ranked Emory University on April 26. In this match, Carnegie Mellon fell again, losing 4-0 and concluding the championship in fourth place with an overall record of 16-7. The Tartans' journey through the UAA Championship showcased their resilience and competitive spirit, despite the challenging outcomes against higher-ranked opponents. Looking ahead, the team will focus on preparing for the upcoming NCAA tournament, where they hope to build on their experiences from the UAA Championship and make a deeper run.
