The Trinity College baseball team advanced to the NESCAC Championship weekend with a commanding 12-2 victory over Wesleyan University in the deciding game of their quarterfinal series. After losing the opener 7-1, the Bantams rebounded to win the series and improve their record to 26-13. In the clinching game, Trinity's offense exploded, highlighted by a solo home run from Pete Beisel and a four-run eighth inning that sealed the win. This victory marks the 12th time in program history that the Bantams have reached the 25-win plateau.
In women's rowing, Trinity's crews demonstrated impressive depth at the New England Rowing Championships. The Women's Second Varsity Eight and Third Varsity Eight both secured third-place finishes in their respective Grand Finals, while the Fourth Varsity Eight placed fourth. These results reflect the team's competitive spirit and set the stage for the upcoming National Invitational Rowing Championships and NESCAC Championships on May 9.
The No. 1-ranked men's rowing team continued its dominance at the same championships, capturing titles in both the First and Second Varsity races. The Bantams' 3V and 4V crews also performed admirably, each earning silver medals. Coach MacDermott praised the teams for their performance, emphasizing the importance of gaining experience as they move deeper into the championship season.
In women's golf, the Bantams finished seventh at the NESCAC Championships held at Taconic Golf Club. Led by CC Kaplan's five-over par 76 on the first day, Trinity showed improvement in the second round with Himena Yamane's seven-over 78. Despite the challenges, the team maintained a competitive presence throughout the tournament, showcasing their potential for future seasons.
Meanwhile, the women's lacrosse team faced a tough semifinal matchup against top-ranked Middlebury College, falling 13-8. The Bantams, now 12-5 on the season, had a momentary lead but were unable to maintain momentum against the undefeated Panthers. They now await their NCAA Tournament fate. The men's lacrosse team also saw recognition this week, as junior Miles Harvey earned a spot on the NESCAC All-Conference Second Team after a standout season with 51 points, marking a significant individual achievement for the program.
