Brandeis managed to rally, with sophomore Keith Lee hitting a leadoff home run in the sixth, but ultimately could not overcome the deficit. The nightcap ended 14-9, marking the Judges' third consecutive loss to the Bears, who improved to 26-9 overall. Earlier in the week, on April 18, Brandeis split a doubleheader with WashU, winning the first game 3-1 behind a complete game from graduate student Jacob Maurer, who struck out seven and allowed just one earned run. However, the Judges lost the second game 7-1, leaving them with a record of 17-14 overall and 8-8 in the UAA.
In softball, Brandeis faced a formidable opponent in #8 Washington University, enduring a three-game series sweep. The Judges lost 9-0 in the first game on April 18, where the Bears capitalized on a big third inning to take control. In the second game, Brandeis put up a fight but ultimately fell 6-4. The series marked Senior Day for Brandeis, honoring five seniors in their final home games. The team now holds an 18-14 record and 5-7 in UAA play.
Brandeis track and field athletes competed at both the Georgia Tech Invitational and the Sean Collier Invite at MIT over the weekend, with several personal records and new all-time marks achieved. Notably, athlete Sealy is making strides toward NCAA qualification, showcasing the team's potential as they prepare for the upcoming UAA championships. This week’s performances indicate a promising trajectory as the season progresses.
