The Case Western Reserve University women's track and field team achieved notable success at the Spark Adams Invitational on April 19, where they set two new program records. The women's 4x100-meter relay team established a new benchmark for the second consecutive week, while first-year athlete Gianna Phipps broke a long-standing 41-year record in the 100-meter dash with a preliminary time of 12.10 seconds, the second-fastest by a UAA runner this season. Phipps ultimately placed sixth in the final with a time of 12.31 seconds. Additionally, senior Blais recorded a remarkable long jump of 7.00 meters, marking the top performance in the UAA this year. As a team, the Spartan women finished ninth out of 18 teams, while the men tied for fourth out of 17 with 68 points, behind host Baldwin Wallace, which won with 129.5 points.
In a separate announcement, the University Athletic Association recognized 81 members of Case Western's spring sports teams with UAA All-Academic honors. This accolade is awarded to student-athletes who have completed at least one year of college study and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.500. Among the honorees, the women's track and field team had 15 athletes recognized, contributing to a total of 201 Spartans who received UAA All-Academic honors across all seasons this academic year. The commendations reflect the university's commitment to both academic and athletic excellence, with spring sports including baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's golf also represented in the honors.
