Elle Marsyla of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team broke the program record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 33:51.05 at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 18. This performance not only marked the top time in Division III this season but also placed her tenth in NCAA Division III history. Meanwhile, Riley Capuano recorded the second-best 1500-meter time in CMS history during the same meet, showcasing the depth of talent within the women's team. On the men's side, Jacob Pippel made headlines by running an impressive 8:59.77 in the steeplechase, becoming only the second Stag to break the nine-minute barrier. Additionally, Jonas Rickert and Kavin Prasanna earned top-10 marks in the 1500 meters and hammer throw, respectively, concluding a busy week for the track and field program.
In softball, the Athenas faced Whittier in a doubleheader on April 19. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps secured a 7-0 victory in the first game, highlighted by Rachel Sapirstein's grand slam and Annabella Ramirez's two-run homer. However, the Poets bounced back in the second game, winning 8-5 despite a strong performance from Riley Cooper, who went 2-for-3 with a two-run double. The split leaves the Athenas looking to regroup as they continue their season with more conference play ahead.
