The Brandeis University men's tennis team concluded its season with notable accolades, as first-year head coach Alan Dubrovsky was named UAA Coach of the Year. Under his guidance, the Judges achieved a 13-7 record, marking their best finish at the UAA tournament since 2023. Key contributions came from sophomore Daniel Shemesh, who earned first-team All-UAA honors at first singles, and junior Pierce Garbett, who secured a spot on the All-UAA second team for his performance at second singles. The team notably defeated #25 NYU and upset #10 Washington University in the tournament's consolation matches, solidifying their competitive edge against top-tier opponents.
On the women's side, three members of the Brandeis tennis team were recognized on the All-UAA teams. Junior Mandy Reyes and senior Rebecca Suarez earned first-team honors in doubles, while Reyes also received second-team recognition at first singles. The duo posted an impressive 17-4 overall record, including a successful run at the UAA tournament. Their performance has positioned them for a potential berth in the NCAA Division III Doubles Championships later this month.
In baseball, three players were honored on the All-UAA team, with sophomore Ben Kuja and sophomore Danny Tambascia earning first-team selections. Kuja led the team with a .319 batting average and was instrumental in multiple games, including a standout performance against conference champions Chicago where he went 4-for-4 with six RBIs. Graduate student Jacob Maurer was recognized on the second team, rounding out the accolades for the Judges this season.
The Brandeis fencing team also celebrated success, as senior Lev BenAvram was named the USFCA Division III Men's Saber Fencer of the Year for the second consecutive year. He finished fifth at the NCAA National Collegiate Fencing Championships, marking the highest finish for a Brandeis men's fencer in over two decades. Additionally, assistant coach Matthew Zich received the Division III Men's Assistant Coach of the Year award, highlighting the program's consistent excellence. Overall, the Judges have demonstrated strong performances across multiple sports as they head into the postseason.
