Babson College's women's tennis team achieved a significant milestone by winning the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship, its first since 2014. The No. 8 Beavers secured the title on Sunday and subsequently learned they would compete at Middlebury College for the opening weekend of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Senior Matia Cristiani was named NEWMAC Athlete of the Year, and four players received All-Conference honors in both singles and doubles, underscoring the team's strong season.
In men's lacrosse, Babson continues its successful run by winning its fourth consecutive NEWMAC championship. The No. 4/8 Beavers are set to host the second and third rounds of the NCAA Tournament next weekend, a testament to their consistent performance throughout the season. This marks a promising opportunity for the team to advance further in the national tournament.
The softball team opened the NEWMAC Tournament with a solid 9-3 victory over Wellesley College, showcasing offensive depth as seven players drove in runs. However, the Beavers faced a setback later in the day, falling to top-seeded and 12th-ranked WPI by a narrow 6-5 margin. Babson's next matchup will depend on the tournament's progression, as they look to bounce back in the elimination round.
In golf, the men's team has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Golf Championship after finishing the season with three consecutive top-10 finishes. This selection highlights the team's competitive performance and sets the stage for their upcoming challenge at the national level.
Overall, Babson's athletic programs are making notable strides as they enter the postseason, with opportunities for further success in the coming weeks.
