The Emory University track and field teams delivered standout performances at multiple meets over the weekend, highlighted by Aaliyah Jalloh's record-breaking run in the 800 meters. Competing at the Lee Last Chance meet, Jalloh clocked in at 2:09.17, setting a new program record and ranking fifth nationally. The throwers also excelled, with Abigail Roberts winning the hammer throw with a distance of 55.36 meters, which also broke her own program record and placed her fifth in the nation. Jeanette Hydukovich and Caroline Henry added victories in the shot put and discus, respectively, further solidifying Emory's strength in field events. Meanwhile, at the Williams FIRE Meet, freshman Megan Taylor concluded her heptathlon with a sixth-place finish, scoring 4,111 points.
In softball, the Eagles faced a challenging end to their regular season, splitting a doubleheader against seventh-ranked Washington University in St. Louis. After falling 7-2 in the first game, Emory rebounded in the second, securing a 2-1 victory thanks to a walk-off single from freshman Alejandra Wittman. The series finale on Senior Day saw Emory lose 6-0, concluding the regular season at 25-11 and marking the senior class's contributions, which include 100 wins and a Super Regional appearance last season.
On the golf front, Emory announced a transition in leadership as John Sjoberg takes on the newly established Director of Golf position, overseeing both the men's and women's programs. Sjoberg, who has led the men's team to significant successes, will guide both squads into the NCAA Championships, with the men's tournament set for May 12-15 and the women's from May 19-22.
In tennis, the Eagles are preparing for the NCAA Individual Championships, with senior Emily Kantrovitz, Izzy Antanavicius, and Iris Berman representing the women's team, while Ruilin Feng and Ajay Kartik will compete for the men's team. These championships will take place from May 22-26 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, following the team championships.
