The Babson College women's tennis team has reached a milestone by advancing to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for the first time in program history. The fifth-ranked Beavers, who secured their spot with a victory over Middlebury, are set to face second-ranked Chicago on Monday. This achievement places Babson alongside MIT as the only NEWMAC programs to have reached this stage in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship.
In men's lacrosse, Babson's run in the NCAA Tournament concluded in the quarterfinals with a 21-14 loss to No. 10 RIT. Despite the defeat, the Beavers showcased impressive performances, particularly from sophomore Ryan Sanders and junior Erich Acton, who combined for 11 goals and 10 assists. Earlier in the week, four team members received USA Lacrosse All-America honors, underscoring the team's strong season.
The Babson baseball team experienced a rollercoaster in the NCAA Tournament Gorham Regional. After a late rally by Southern Maine resulted in an 11-7 loss in their opener, the Beavers bounced back with a 9-8 victory over RIT in an elimination game. Junior Ryan Liss's first-inning grand slam and the pitching efforts of seniors Connor Doan and Zander Teator were pivotal in securing the win.
On the golf course, sophomore Aman Vantipalli represented Babson at the NCAA Division III Championship. Vantipalli shot a 3-over 75 to advance individually after the team narrowly missed the cut. He concluded the tournament with a strong 2-under 70 in the final round, featuring an eagle and four birdies.
In track and field, Babson's athletes made their mark at the MIT Final Qualifier. Graduate student Diego Sanabria set a new program record in the men's javelin, while Skyler Mott and Amrit Rehal qualified for the NCAA Championships in the high jump. On the women's side, graduate student Diego Sanabria led with a sixth-place finish in the 100m hurdles.
Looking ahead, the women's tennis team prepares for their quarterfinal match against Chicago, while track and field athletes gear up for the NCAA Championships.
