Harvard women's hockey enters the ECAC Championship quarterfinals this weekend following a significant playoff victory and multiple individual accolades. The Crimson, seeded eighth, advanced to this stage after defeating St. Lawrence in the opening round, marking their first playoff win since 2022 and their first advancement in the ECAC Championship tournament since 2020. They will face second-seeded Princeton in a best-of-three series, with the first game scheduled for February 27. Harvard and Princeton have a storied rivalry, having split their regular-season matchups, and the Crimson will seek to avenge their previous postseason loss to the Tigers in 2022.
In addition to their playoff success, several Harvard players received recognition for their performances this season. Zoe Boosamra and Ainsley Tuffy earned Honorable Mention honors on the All-Ivy League list, while Emily Davidson was recognized with an Academic All-Ivy League distinction. Boosamra, a junior captain, led the team with eight points in Ivy League play, contributing significantly to the team's success. Kaley MacDonald was named ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal against St. Lawrence and assisting on the game-tying goal. Furthermore, first-year forward Morgan McGathey was selected for the ECAC All-Rookie Team, finishing the regular season as the team's leading scorer with 15 points, including 10 goals. Her contributions have been pivotal in a strong freshman campaign.
As the Crimson prepare for their upcoming series against Princeton, they will look to build on their recent momentum and capitalize on the individual successes of their players.
