Bucknell Wrestling celebrated a historic weekend at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championships, finishing third overall and capturing two individual titles for the first time in program history. Myles Takats (174 pounds) and Dillon Bechtold (197 pounds) both secured their first EIWA titles, contributing to a program-record score of 126.5 points. Noah Mulvaney (165 pounds) earned runner-up honors for the second consecutive year, while Dylan Chappell (141 pounds) placed third. All four wrestlers have qualified for the NCAA National Championships, set to take place in Cleveland in two weeks. Bucknell's strong performance marked a significant improvement from previous years, with head coach Dan Wirnsberger praising the team's effort throughout the tournament.
In women's basketball, Bucknell's season came to an end with a 57-47 loss to Colgate in the first round of the Patriot League tournament. The Bison struggled early, falling behind by 19 points in the first quarter. Despite a spirited comeback, led by Tuana Coskun's 18 points, Bucknell could not overcome Colgate's defensive pressure. Madison Schiller added 10 points for the Bison, who shot 35.3 percent from the field and committed 16 turnovers that led to 21 points for the Raiders. This defeat followed a regular season that saw Coskun earn Third Team All-Patriot League honors, highlighting her contributions as the team's leading scorer.
Meanwhile, Ralph Rucker IV represented Bucknell at the NFL Pro Day on March 9, showcasing his skills to scouts after completing his eligibility as the Bison's starting quarterback. Rucker, who expressed gratitude for his development at Bucknell under Coach Cecchini, aimed to demonstrate his athleticism and leadership during the event, which took place at the Nova Care Center in Philadelphia alongside athletes from Lehigh. His performance could pave the way for a potential professional career in football, marking a new chapter in his athletic journey.
