The Yale men's swimming and diving team has made history by sending six athletes to the NCAA Championships, following a remarkable showing at the Ivy League Championships. Among the qualifiers, senior James Millard secured his spot in the 500 freestyle with a pool-record time of 4:10.19 and also qualified for the 1650 freestyle after finishing second in that event. Freshman Ethan Finch made headlines by winning gold in the 50 freestyle with a record-tying time of 18.82 and followed that up with another gold in the 100 butterfly. The Bulldogs will compete at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, hosted by Georgia Tech.
In women's swimming and diving, the Yale team concluded its participation in the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, where Lily Horenkamp led the Bulldogs with a 12th place finish in the women's 1-meter final. Jackson Lipscomb also had a strong performance on the men's side, finishing ninth in the men's 3-meter final, with Nicholas Chau close behind in tenth. The Bulldogs are now looking toward the upcoming NCAA Championships for the men's team.
On the ice, two members of the Yale men's hockey team received All-Ivy honors this week. Senior David Chen was named Second Team All-Ivy and also earned recognition as Yale's Academic All-Ivy recipient, while sophomore Hughie Hooker was honored with an All-Ivy Honorable Mention. Chen led the team in points and assists this season, showcasing both athletic and academic excellence.
The Yale women's golf team wrapped up play at the Yale Invitational West, finishing in 10th place. Mia Sessa and Anya Mathur were the top finishers for the Bulldogs, both tying for 33rd in the 58-player field. The team now prepares for the Valspar tournament in Augusta, Georgia, this coming weekend. Additionally, the Yale Golf Course is set to reopen on April 28, 2026, following a significant restoration that aims to preserve its historical significance while enhancing its championship standards.
In women's basketball, Ciniya Moore earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors, highlighting her impressive season where she ranked among the league's top scorers and free throw shooters. Luisa Vydrova was recognized as an Academic All-Ivy selection, underscoring the team's commitment to excellence both on and off the court.
