The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team faced a challenging contest in the NESCAC Championship finals against Amherst College, ultimately falling 2-1. The Mules, who entered the game after a thrilling triple-overtime victory over Middlebury, demonstrated strong offensive pressure, outshooting Amherst 74-32. Despite a valiant effort, including 31 saves from goaltender Ally Martinello, Colby could not find the equalizer after Amherst took an early lead. The Mules finished their season with a commendable run, showcasing resilience and determination throughout the playoffs.
In squash, three members of the Colby Women's Squash team have been recognized for their exceptional performances during the 2025-26 season. Laavanya Kugan earns her fourth All-NESCAC first team selection, finishing the season with a 13-3 record and a notable 5.50 universal rating. Abhisheka David and Nathalie Sim also received All-NESCAC honors, with David earning second team recognition and a 13-2 record. On the men's side, Seif Ashraf has been named to the All-NESCAC first team for the third consecutive year, while teammates Hamza Wessam and Carlos Zendejas received second team honors. Ashraf concluded the season with a 9-8 record, and Wessam impressed with a 12-4 record, both representing Colby at the CSA Individual Championships.
Looking ahead, the Colby men's and women's track and field teams are preparing for the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, this weekend, while the Alpine and Nordic Ski teams gear up for the NCAA Ski Championships in Park City, Utah. Additionally, the baseball team recently swept No. 15 Endicott, and the men's lacrosse team secured a victory over Springfield, indicating a promising start to their respective seasons.
