The Brown women's basketball team faced a challenging semifinal matchup against the No. 23 Princeton Tigers in the Ivy Madness tournament on March 14. The Bears, seeded fourth, were unable to overcome the top-seeded Tigers, losing 65-51 at Newman Arena in Ithaca, New York. Despite the defeat, Brown made Ivy Madness history by setting a team record with 11 three-pointers in the game. Head Coach Monique LeBlanc expressed pride in her team's resilience, noting their ability to settle into the game after a slow start. This season, the Bears finished with a record of 16-11 overall and 8-6 in Ivy play, marking a strong performance under LeBlanc's leadership.
In football, the Brown program is set to host its 15th annual Bone Marrow Drive on March 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the University’s Main Green. This initiative aims to recruit new bone marrow donors to the national registry, with nearly 3,000 individuals having registered through the program since its inception. Those unable to attend in person can register online. The event highlights the program's commitment to community service and health awareness.
On the wrestling front, three Brown athletes have qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Wrestling Championship, scheduled for March 19-21 in Cleveland. Andrew Reall (197 lbs), Alex Semenenko (285 lbs), and Austin McBurney (149 lbs) will represent the Bears at the national level. Reall, who boasts a 34-4 record, enters the tournament as the 18th seed, while Semenenko, with a record of 25-7, is seeded 25th. McBurney, competing at 149 lbs, will also look to make an impact in his first NCAA championship appearance. Their qualifications reflect a strong season for the Brown wrestling program, setting the stage for a competitive championship weekend.
