In a week marked by individual accolades, Tufts University men's basketball forward Scott Gyimesi has been named to the D3hoops.com All-American Third Team, becoming only the second player in program history to receive this honor. Gyimesi, who also earned NABC All-American First Team and NESCAC Player of the Year distinctions this season, averaged 15.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game despite battling injuries. His contributions helped the Jumbos reach the NCAA Elite Eight, finishing the season with a 23-6 record. Additionally, Gyimesi, along with teammates Joshua Bernstein and Sidney Wooten, was recognized on the Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team for their exceptional performances both on the court and in the classroom.
The Tufts University swimming and diving teams also had a strong showing, with 16 athletes earning All-American honors at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships held from March 18-21 in Indianapolis. The women's team particularly excelled, securing 11 All-American titles, including multiple first-team finishes by senior Madeleine Dunn in the 500 Free, 1650 Free, and 400 IM events. First-year Abby Davis and senior Isa Chambers also contributed to the team's success, highlighting the depth of talent within the program.
In hockey, senior Brendan Fennell was awarded the 2026 J. Thom Lawler Award, recognizing his leadership and commitment to the Tufts program. Fennell's contributions included 24 points and a team-leading 18 assists in 25 games, helping the Jumbos achieve a record of 12-12-1 and a NESCAC Quarterfinal appearance. His dedication to teamwork and academic achievement exemplifies the values celebrated by this prestigious award.
