The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team concluded a strong showing at the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, marked by Anna McGrew's historic performances. On the final day of competition, McGrew won the consolation final of the 100-yard freestyle, finishing ninth overall with a time of 49.84 seconds. This achievement made her the first woman in Middlebury history to swim under 50 seconds in the event, a feat she accomplished after setting a new program record of 50.69 seconds in the preliminary heats. McGrew's efforts throughout the championships earned her three All-American accolades, including a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle earlier in the week.
In addition to McGrew's accomplishments, Isla Johnston also competed in the 1,650-yard freestyle, where she recorded a time of 17:20.93, finishing 17th overall. Earlier in the championships, Johnston participated in the 200-yard freestyle, cutting 1.56 seconds off her seed time to place 42nd. The Panthers also saw action in the 800-yard freestyle relay, where the team of Hannah Baumgartner, McGrew, Johnston, and Lauren Jolley secured seventh place with a time of 7:35.03, earning second-team All-American honors. Jolley had the fastest split for the relay team, clocking in at 1:53.68 during her 200-yard leg. Overall, the team finished 15th in the NCAA standings, showcasing their competitive spirit and depth throughout the meet.
