The Army West Point women's basketball team achieved a historic milestone by advancing to the Great Eight of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) for the first time in program history. In a commanding performance on March 25, the Black Knights defeated La Salle 74-63 at Christl Arena, never trailing throughout the contest. Army showcased its offensive prowess, shooting 56.3 percent from the field, with standout performances from Reese Ericson, who scored a team-high 19 points, and Fiona Hastick, who contributed 13 points in her best outing of the season after returning from injury. Kya Smith and Camryn Tade also played pivotal roles, each adding 16 points. This victory marks a significant achievement for Army, as it becomes the first team from the Patriot League to reach the WNIT Great Eight.
Meanwhile, the Army track and field program concluded a busy weekend of competition at the Raleigh Relays and the UCF Knights Invitational. Competing across two locations, the Black Knights saw notable success, particularly at the Raleigh Relays where Charlotte Richman and Mikayla Cheney set new program records. Richman finished 10th in the women's 5,000m with a time of 15:52.42, while Cheney recorded the fastest Army time in the 1,500m at 4:15.54, finishing 14th. Other participants included Nathan Davis and Maximus Haynia, who competed in the men's 5,000m, finishing 31st and 62nd, respectively. The outdoor season continues for the track and field team as they build on this promising start.
