Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball has distinguished itself academically this week, with three players earning Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators. Senior James Frye, junior Will Householter, and sophomore Brady Karich have been recognized for their achievements on the court and in the classroom, highlighting the program's commitment to academic excellence.
On the women's side, four members of the Athena basketball team also received Academic All-District honors. Graduate student Caleigh Edwards, senior Katie Resendiz, and juniors Tanya Ghai and Cate Shingler join their male counterparts in showcasing the balance of athletics and academics at CMS.
In women's golf, Alisa Ching has been named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week following her impressive performances leading up to March 22. Ching's contributions have been pivotal for the Athenas, and this recognition underscores her dedication and skill in the sport.
Additionally, Jesse Purcell, a representative of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics, presented at Cal State Fullerton's 24th Annual Violence Prevention Conference. Purcell's role as co-chair of the CMS Title IX Committee emphasizes the institution's commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all student-athletes.
As the spring season progresses, CMS looks forward to continued success in both academics and athletics, with upcoming competitions on the horizon for both basketball teams and the women's golf squad.
