The Middlebury women's ice hockey team celebrates the recognition of two of its standout players, Avery McInerny and Trinity Walsh, who have both been named to the CCM Hockey/American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American East third team. This marks a continuation of excellence for the program, as it is the second consecutive season a Panther has received All-America honors. McInerny, who is having a standout senior season, ranks among the top players in the NESCAC with 30 points, including 10 goals and 20 assists. She has also excelled in the faceoff circle, winning over 52 percent of her attempts. Walsh, also earning her first All-American distinction, has made significant contributions to the team's success this year.
In track and field, the Middlebury women's team concluded its spring break trip with a strong performance at the Mangrum Invitational in California. The Panthers secured multiple top-five finishes across various events, showcasing their depth and talent. Lilly Wurtz led the way with a first-place finish in the hammer throw, achieving a distance of 46.62 meters, while teammate Julia Tulimieri followed closely in third with a throw of 45.91 meters. In the 800-meter run, Naomi Atwood narrowly claimed second place with a time of 2:15.62, edging out a competitor from California State University of San Bernardino. Shea Fajen also shone in the 3,000 steeplechase, finishing as the runner-up. The Panthers' strong showing at the Mangrum Invitational sets a positive tone as they prepare for upcoming competitions this season.
