The Brown women's crew team showcased its prowess on April 4, winning five races against No. 23 Dartmouth on Senior Day. The crew's 3V8 secured a narrow victory with a time of 6:32.5, just ahead of Dartmouth's 6:33.7. The 1V8, coxed by Summer Balla-Kellett and stroked by Calissa Snyder Cox, finished with a time of 6:10.3, seven seconds clear of their opponents. The 2V8 continued the winning streak, clocking in at 6:13.9, while the 1V4 also claimed victory with a time of 6:51.2. The day concluded with a ceremony honoring seniors, including Brooke Halvorsen and Ellie Knight, who have made significant contributions to the program.
In track and field, the Brown teams competed at the Ocean State Cup on April 4, finishing second in both the men's and women's categories. Junior Alyssa Jackson was a standout performer, winning both the 100m and 200m dashes. Her 200m time of 24.03 is now the third fastest in program history. Freshman Sameera Monks also had a strong showing, placing fifth in the 100m and eighth in the 200m. The men's team saw five athletes set top-10 program marks, contributing to a competitive overall performance.
In football news, Brown alum Zak DeOssie will return to campus on April 14 for a fireside chat about his journey from Brown to the NFL. DeOssie, a Super Bowl champion and three-time First Team All-Ivy League linebacker, will share insights from his career, moderated by current student-athlete Levi Linowes. This event promises to be a highlight for fans and aspiring athletes alike.
