Marcus Wertheim, a senior on the Brown men's lacrosse team, was selected in the fourth round, 26th overall, by the California Redwoods in the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) College Draft. Wertheim, a standout player with 59 goals and 48 assists over his career, has had a particularly impressive season, ranking fifth in the Ivy League in assists. He is only the second player in program history to be drafted into the PLL, following Ryan Aughavin in 2022. Earlier in the week, teammate Brady O'Kane was recognized as the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after a remarkable performance against Dartmouth, where he scored five goals, including the game-winner in overtime, leading the Bears to a dramatic 17-16 comeback victory. O'Kane's efforts helped Brown secure its first Ivy League win of the season.
In men's basketball, senior Landon Lewis received recognition as a Third Team Academic All-American by the College Sport Communicators. Lewis, who was also named First Team All-Ivy and Academic All-Ivy, led the Ivy League in scoring during conference play with an impressive average of 18.5 points per game. He demonstrated consistent performance throughout the season, scoring in double figures in 19 of 21 games and achieving two 30-point games, showcasing his scoring prowess and leadership on the court.
On the football front, Brown head coach James Perry announced the hiring of Nathan Wiggins as the new Offensive Quality Control Assistant. Wiggins brings over a decade of coaching experience, having previously served at Maine Maritime Academy and Louisiana-Lafayette. His diverse background, including international coaching experience, positions him to contribute significantly to the Bears' football program as they prepare for the upcoming season.
