Tufts University senior Lauryn Horita has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week, following a standout performance that helped the Jumbos to a 3-1 record last week. Horita recorded multiple hits in all four games, finishing with a .625 batting average by going 10 for 16 at the plate, including two doubles, seven runs scored, and three runs batted in. Her contributions were crucial in a doubleheader sweep against Amherst College, where she went 5 for 8, scoring four runs and driving in one. In the first game, she played a pivotal role in an 8-5 extra-inning victory, doubling and scoring during a critical rally. Against Trinity College, Horita maintained her form, again going 5 for 8 with three runs and two RBIs, helping secure an 8-6 win in the second game. The Jumbos' recent success also included a decisive 9-0 victory over Babson College, where Horita contributed to the offensive surge with a home run. First-year pitcher Avery Kanouse earned her eighth win, delivering six scoreless innings and allowing only three hits.
