In men's lacrosse, sophomore goalie Jack Pelot was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week after recording 14 saves in a crucial 12-11 double-overtime win against Brown. Pelot's performance included three saves in the extra periods, preserving the Quakers' hopes for an Ivy League Tournament berth. With a record of 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the Ivy League, Penn will face UMass in a neutral-site game on April 22 to conclude the regular season.
The Penn baseball team faced a setback in the Liberty Bell Classic championship, falling 8-2 to Saint Joseph's on April 21. Freshman Jack Warner led the Quakers with two hits and an RBI, while senior Ryan Taylor made history by stealing his 26th base of the season, breaking the previous single-season record. The Quakers, now 15-19 overall, have seen standout performances from Thomas Shurtleff and Nick Spaventa, both of whom received Ivy League honors this week for their contributions on the mound and at the plate, respectively.
The Penn softball team is preparing for its final non-conference game of the season against Villanova on April 22. Currently sitting fourth in the Ivy League standings, the Quakers are just ahead of Brown for the last Ivy League Tournament spot. Jaz Johnson continues to lead the league in stolen bases with 12, showcasing her speed and agility on the base paths. Coach Christie Novatin recently achieved her 30th career win at Penn, marking a significant milestone for the program.
