Emory University junior Ethan Fauss has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Third Team, marking a significant achievement for the men's basketball program. Fauss is the first player since Matthew Schner in 2022 to receive this honor and only the sixth in the program's history. His impressive season included an average of 15.0 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, leading the Eagles to their first-ever national championship game. In the postseason, Fauss elevated his performance, averaging 15.5 points and 10.2 rebounds across six games, solidifying his status as a key player for the Eagles.
In track and field, junior Sebastian Kou has been recognized as a University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Berry College Field Day, where he won the men's 400m hurdles in a personal-best time of 53.72 seconds. This mark not only leads the UAA but also places him 19th in Division III. Additionally, freshman Sydney Thune earned the same accolade after a stellar weekend in softball, where she pitched a total of 9.2 innings without allowing a run in a series sweep against Chicago, contributing to the Eagles’ tenth conference win.
Looking ahead, the Emory women's golf team, ranked #1 nationally, will host the Deb Jackson Invitational at West Pines Golf Club in Douglasville, Georgia, on April 18-19. The men's golf team, currently ranked #8, will compete in the Discover Dekalb Emory Invitational at Cherokee Run Golf Club in Conyers, Georgia, also on April 18-19. Both teams aim to build on their recent performances, with the women's team finishing second at the Georgia State Invitational and the men's team placing tenth at the Capital City Classic last week.
