The Bowdoin College softball team has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament for only the second time in program history. With a record of 27-9, the Polar Bears will compete in a regional at Moravian University starting Thursday, May 14. This marks the team's highest win total since 2018 and follows a fourth-place finish in the NESCAC standings. Bowdoin's previous NCAA appearance was in 2010, where they finished 1-2 at a regional hosted by Wellesley College.
In men's lacrosse, Bowdoin has been selected to host the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals and Semifinals at Whittier Field on May 15 and 16. The Polar Bears will face an undefeated Hope College team (20-0) in the opening quarterfinal on Friday at 4:00 p.m. The second quarterfinal will feature Babson and RIT, with the winners advancing to the semifinal on Saturday night. This opportunity to host adds to the excitement surrounding the program as they aim for a deep tournament run.
Both Bowdoin tennis teams are set to compete in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals next week. The women's team advanced with a decisive 4-0 victory over MIT, highlighted by a comeback in doubles that secured the doubles point. They will face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Monday, May 18. Meanwhile, the men's team defeated Babson 4-1, avenging last year's quarterfinal loss to the same opponent. They will take on the University of Chicago on Tuesday, May 19, marking their third quarterfinal appearance in four years.
The sailing team also received accolades this week, with senior skipper Lauren Russler earning All-NEISA Second Team honors, the first Polar Bear to do so since 2023. Additionally, eleven sailors were recognized for their academic achievements, as Bowdoin prepares for both the Women's Fleet Race and Open Fleet Race Championships in Tampa, Florida, later this month.
