The Caltech men's tennis team concluded its season in the SCIAC semifinals with a 4-0 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, the national No. 3 team. Despite the defeat, the Beavers finished the season with a winning record for the eighth consecutive year and secured the fourth seed in the conference tournament. Senior Andrew Zabelo, who has been a standout throughout the season, and junior Eric He formed the top doubles duo, earning a No. 7 regional ranking. Their strong performance included a competitive match against the top Division III doubles pair in the nation. Zabelo also competed fiercely in singles, showcasing his skills against a formidable opponent.
On the women's side, Caltech's tennis players received significant recognition in the SCIAC All-Conference awards. Sophomore Carissa Gerung earned first-team honors after a remarkable season at #1 Singles, including a notable victory over the second-ranked player in the Division III national rankings. Teammates Polaris Hayes and Anna Szczuka were named to the Second Team, contributing to the Beavers' successful campaign. In the SCIAC semifinals, the women's team opened strong with a doubles victory over CMS, highlighted by Gerung and Hayes' win at the top court. Despite a tough singles lineup, the Beavers demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the match.
Both teams will look to build on their successes as they prepare for the upcoming offseason and next year's competitions.
