The MIT softball team has been selected to compete in the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Championships, marking the program's seventh consecutive appearance in the tournament. The Engineers, ranked No. 25 nationally, earned an at-large bid after finishing as runners-up in the NEWMAC Championship against No. 12 WPI. They will head to Bangor, Maine, as the No. 2 seed in the Husson Regional, where they will face Colby in their opening game on May 14. The regional also includes Husson and Endicott, with the full schedule set for the weekend. In addition to their NCAA selection, the Engineers celebrated individual achievements, with Ava Ladd named the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year. Ladd led a group of seven All-Conference selections, which included four first-team honors for her, Layla Thiessen, Arianna Kumar, and Holland Poe.
In baseball, juniors John Dwyer and Dalton Chi received recognition as members of the NEWMAC Baseball All-Conference First Team. Dwyer, a catcher, has posted a .356 batting average and a .996 OPS, while Chi, an infielder, leads the team with a 1.072 OPS and 47 hits. Both players earned their first career All-Conference selections, underscoring their contributions to the team's success this season.
On the tennis courts, Artemis Pados has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women’s Tennis Team. This accolade recognizes her outstanding performance both academically and athletically, as she now advances to the Academic All-America ballot. Pados' selection highlights the balance of academic excellence and athletic prowess that MIT student-athletes consistently strive for.
