The University of Rochester softball team, ranked 24th nationally, secured its ninth Liberty League Tournament Championship, earning an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship. The Yellowjackets triumphed over Ithaca College twice on May 6 to clinch the title, overcoming an earlier loss to the same team in the winner's bracket. Junior Riley Laygo was named the Liberty League Player of the Year, while senior Molly Broccolo earned Pitcher of the Year honors. Both players, along with three others, received First-Team All-Liberty League recognition. Rochester heads to the Angola Regional at Trine University, opening play against Loras College on May 14.
In men's golf, the Yellowjackets began their campaign at the NCAA Division III Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, with a first-round score of 303, placing them tied for 37th in a competitive field. Sophomore Alvin Su led the team with a score of 74, while the team aims to improve its standing in the subsequent rounds. Earlier in the week, five golfers were recognized with All-Region honors, highlighting the team's strong season, which included a third consecutive Liberty League title.
The women's tennis team saw senior Jasmin Toor and sophomore Lilly Caldwell honored with Academic All-District accolades from the College Sports Communicators, recognizing their achievements both on the court and in the classroom. Toor, who earned All-Association honors, finished the season with eight singles wins and 12 doubles victories, while Caldwell also contributed significantly to the team's performance this year. Similarly, the men's tennis team had three players—Surya Rajamani, Ethan Samora, and Alan Wang—receive Academic All-District honors, with Wang also recognized for his strong play in singles and doubles.
In baseball, sophomore Benjamin Garber earned Third Team All-Liberty League honors, finishing the season as the Yellowjackets' leading hitter with a .368 average. Despite a challenging season overall, Garber's performance stood out, particularly in the field where he maintained a perfect defensive record. Lastly, the women's lacrosse team had 91 student-athletes recognized on the Liberty League Spring All-Academic team, reflecting the academic success of the department across multiple sports this spring.
