PRINCETON, N.J. – Joey Gant was named Ivy Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after setting a new personal best in the 200m on Friday at the Larry Ellis Invitational.
At home in Weaver Stadium, Gant ran 20.60 to win the event and move up to fourth in the all-time Princeton record book. The time ranks first in the Ivy League this season.
It is Gant's first time winning Athlete of the Week honors.
Gant has had a solid outdoor season already, setting a school record in the 400m just two weeks ago at the Virginia Challenge with another league-topping mark of 45.55.
With the regular season now concluded, Gant and the Tigers will look ahead to hosting the Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships in Weaver on May 16th and 17th, as they chase a third-consecutive Triple Crown.
