Women's Track & Field Completes Second Consecutive Triple Crown, Hoists ODAC Outdoor Title

HARRISONBURG, Va. - For the second consecutive season, the Washington and Lee University women's track and field team completed the triple crown as they claimed their second-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor title in record-breaking fashion, scoring the most points at the conference meet since 1995.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET

  • The Generals completed the triple crown for the second consecutive season, winning the cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field titles. W&L scored 258 across the two-day meet with ten wins and nine other All-ODAC performances, the top-three in each event. Lynchburg followed in second place with 151.5 points while Bridgewater (139) finished in third. Roanoke was slotted fourth with 83 points while Shenandoah rounded out the top-five with 38 points.

  • The Blue and White picked up five wins on Saturday, highlighted by two wins from Cassie Carr. Carr kicked off the day with a first place finish in the 1,500m, clocking in a time of 4:39.46 before claiming gold in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:15.37. Her 800m time reset Avery Schiffman's program record of 2:15.51 which was set in 2022.

  • Jesma Evans secured her first outdoor title in the 400m after clocking a personal best time of 56.11s, improving her program record time. Layla Keadle secured the team's third-straight title in the pole vault, earning her first gold finish in her career. Keadle cleared a height of 3.46m (11'-04.25") on her first attempt to secure the win. Olivia Warr won her second-straight ODAC title in the 5,000m as she crossed the finish line in a time of 17:27.00.

  • Ana Hodneland, Annabelle Sutliff, Lucie Graziano, and Jesma Evans rounded out the champions with a first place finish in the 4x400m relay, clocking in a time of 3:56.15 to secure the fifth title in program history.

  • Olivia Warr, Amelia Weenig and Julie Anne Bush joined Carr in the 1,500m finishing in second, third and fourth place for a clean sweep of the top four spots. Warr finished in second with a time of 4:41.44 with Weenig clocking in a time of 4:47.70 and Bush posting a personal best time of 4:49.48.

  • Annabelle Sutliff joined Evans in the 400m finals this afternoon, finishing in seventh place with a personal best time of 58.96s which also improved her No. 5 all-time mark. Lilly Versen turned in a runner-up performance in the 100m finals, clocking in a season best time of 12.24s.

  • Weenig and Graziano joined Carr in the 800m, turning in fourth and fifth place finishes to score points for the Blue and White. Weenig finished in fourth place with a time fo 2:19.53 while Graziano clocked in personal best time of 2:21.50 to finish in fifth place.

  • The Generals had two student-athletes in the 400m hurdles finals this afternoon with Elizabeth Sawicki turning in a second place finish in the event with a personal best time of 1:06.26, the eighth-best time in program history.

  • Eve Spencer and Audrey Robinson joined Warr in the 5,000m, finishing in fifth and sixth place. Spencer clocked in a time of 18:29.67 to finish in fifth while Robinson turned in a sixth place finish after clocking in a personal best time of 18:27.21.
