Women’s Golf Completes Play at Terps Invitational

th place finish in the field of 16 teams. Sophomore

Vanessa Zhang paced the Crimson with a tournament score of five-over-par to finish T14 in the tournament. Harvard finished ahead of regional foes Yale, Navy and Georgetown at the tournament, its second of four competitions this Spring.

How it Happened

For the second consecutive season, Harvard women's golf travelled to College Park to compete in the Terps Invitational at the University of Maryland Golf Course. The Crimson was looking to continue improving as it eyes down the Ivy League Championship at the end of the month.

The Crimson opened the tournament with a team score of 307 (+19) settling into 14

th place after day one.

Lucy Yuan (+2),

Vanessa Zhang (+3),

Dixon Hill (+6) and

Iris Wang (+8) factored into the round one scoring for Harvard.

Harvard knocked three strokes off its round two score (304) to close out the first day of the tournament and jump one spot on the leaderboard to 13

th place. Zhang and Wang led the charge with rounds of 74 (+2) while

Lucy Yuan (+3) and

Dixon Hill (+9) chipped in for the team score.

The lowest round of the tournament for Harvard came in the final round when the group combined for a score of 302. Zhang posted the lowest individual round of the tournament for Harvard in the final round with a score of even-par 72.

Dixon Hill (+4),

Lucy Yuan (+5) and

Iris Wang (+5) all had their scores counted in Harvard's final round push. The results helped Harvard jump two places and into 11

th, where it would finish the tournament.

Vanessa Zhang's final round score helped her move up 10 spots on the leaderboard into T14, where she would finish the tournament. It was the highest placement for the Crimson in the field.

Lucy Yuan came in T34 and

Iris Wang finished T58 to aid the Harvard effort in Maryland.

Harvard Highlights

  • Vanessa Zhang had the highest placement on the team with a T14 finish.

  • The sophomore carded 39 pars in the tournament, the second most individually in the field.

  • Zhang only carded eight bogeys which was tied for the eighth-fewest in the field.

  • Lucy Yuan paced the team with six birdies, a mark that was tied for the 21st most in the field

Up Next

The team will be back in action next weekend when it travels to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational (Apr. 17-18). The Crimson will compete in a challenging field at the tournament hosted by Ohio State at the Ohio State University Golf Course.
