Karas Breaks School 5K Record; Bulldogs Wrap Up Competition at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Six members of the Yale men's track and field team competed on the second day of the Wake Forest Invitational Friday.

Owen Karas added another school record to his growing list Friday as six members of the Yale men's track and field team competed on the second day of the Wake Forest Invitational.

Magnus Manley competed in the 5000m Invite 2 Friday night. Karas advanced through the pack steadily over the final 2K, moving from 12th to first. He closed with a split of 57.07 to salt away the school record with a time of 13:47.74, breaking the mark of 13:50.23 set by

Leo Brewer '25 last year. Florida's Josh Ruiz was second (13:50.12).

In addition to the 5K record, Karas also owns the school record in the 1500m outdoors (3:37.52). His 800m time outdoors, 1:48.30, ranks third on Yale's all-time list.

Indoors, Karas owns the school records in the mile (3:58.37), 3000m (7:51.68) and 5000m (13:51.46).

Manley finished 13th with a time of 14:03.92.

A quartet of Bulldogs competed in the 1500m earlier in the day. Junior

Amaré Fields ran a time of 3:50.68 to place 11th in the 1500m Open 4. Sophomore

Seb Sutch ran a time of 3:49.67 to place third in the 1500m Open 6. In the 1500m Open 8, sophomore

Max Bishop ran a time of 3:46.83 to place eighth and junior

Brian Gamble ran a time of 3:52.15 to place 11th.

Up next, Yale hosts the Mark Young Invitational Saturday.
