McBurney, Reall Win Matches on Day 1 of NCAA Men's Wrestling Championship

CLEVELAND - With the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Wrestling Championship kicking off on Thursday at Rocket Arena, several members from the Brown wrestling team made their debuts on the national stage. No. 18 Andrew Reall (197) and No. 33 Austin McBurney (149) collected three combined wins on day one, and No. 25 Alex Semenenko (285) competed twice.

**CLEVELAND - **With the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Wrestling Championship kicking off on Thursday at Rocket Arena, several members from the Brown wrestling team made their debuts on the national stage. No. 18 Andrew Reall (197) and No. 33 Austin McBurney (149) collected three combined wins on day one, and No. 25 Alex Semenenko (285) competed twice.

McBurney (149), who went 21-13 during the regular season, earned an 11-9 decision against 32 seed Clayton Jones (Michigan State) in his first match. After a 19-4 tech fall defeat in 5:35 to No. 1 Shayne Van Ness (Penn State), McBurney bounced back with a 4-3 decision over 17 seed Lucas Kapusta (Lock Haven) to end the day 2-1.

Reall (197) faced off against 15 seed Remy Cotton (Rutgers) in his first match of the afternoon, dropping the bout via decision, 4-2. In his second match, Reall notched his 35th win of the season with a 2-0 decision over 31 seed Kael Bennie (Utah Valley). This victory moves Reall into third place in program history for wins in a season, with Ophir Bernstein (36, 2013-14) in second place and Steve Thoma (37, 1991-92) in first place.

Semenenko (285) squared off against No. 8 Ben Kueter (Iowa), losing the match by a tightly contested 2-0 decision. Later in the evening, Semenenko wrestled against No. 24 Connor Barket (Duke), falling via major decision, 9-1.

The second day of the tournament is scheduled to for Friday at noon.
