**ITHACA, N.Y. –**The Dartmouth women's basketball team fell to Cornell, 78-53, on Saturday afternoon at Newman Arena.

Alexandra Eldredgeled the Big Green with 12 points, while

Zeynep Ozeladded 11.

Cate MacDonaldchipped in six points and three rebounds, and

Debra Hilladded six points off the bench.

First Quarter:

Sierra Carsonopened Dartmouth's scoring with a three-pointer to cut Cornell's early lead to one.Cate MacDonaldknocked down a pair of free throws to bring the Big Green within a point midway through the quarter.Zeynep Ozelhit a three-pointer to tie the game at 10-10 with just over two minutes remaining.- Cornell closed the quarter with a short run to take a 14-12 lead into the second.

Second Quarter:

Alexandra Eldredgescored on a driving layup early in the period to trim the deficit.Debra Hillconverted a second-chance layup to bring Dartmouth within two points at 19-17.- Cornell responded with a scoring run midway through the quarter to extend its lead.
