Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Manhattan
Dartmouth baseball welcomed the Manhattan Jaspers to Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park, Saturday, playing the first two games of a three game set.

Bats were hot in both games as the two teams combined for 26 hits in game one and 14 in game two, as the Big Green and Jaspers each earned a win.
Dartmouth improves to 14-22 on the season following the two games, Saturday.
Game 1: Manhattan 11, Dartmouth 3
In game one, the Big Green were able to rack up 12 hits but only plated three runs as they fell to the Jaspers, 11-3.
Manhattan got on the board early, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Dartmouth threatened to score in the second, loading the bases with one out, but a double play got the Jaspers out of the jam with the lead.
The visitors immediately responded in the next half inning, adding two runs on two extra-base hits to make it a 3-0 game. They added another in the fourth, but this time, Dartmouth was able to respond.
Jack Espiritu-Niswonger sparked the offense with a single up the middle. Taer Rodriguez doubled to send him to third before he eventually came home to score on a wild pitch, making it a 4-1 game.
In the fifth, the Big Green pulled within one. Nico Bañez drew a walk with one out, eventually coming home to score on thanks to a Sam Andersen triple. Andersen scored only three pitches later, as Milo Suarez singled, cutting the Jaspers' lead to one.
Manhattan immediately responded in the sixth, plating two runs on three hits to reextend its lead to three.
The Big Green had two runners in scoring position with one out in the seventh and bases loaded with one out in the eighth and with two outs in the ninth, but another Manhattan run in the eighth and four in the ninth was too much for Dartmouth to overcome as it suffered the 11-3 loss.
Nate Isler got the start in game one, allowing six runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings. He allowed one walk and fanned six Jaspers.
Nathan Matoush pitched the next 2.2 in relief, giving up one unearned run on two hits. Matous dealt two walks and added two strikeouts.
Senior Joey Gizmunt made his debut on senior weekend for the Big Green, relieving Matoush. He recorded one out.
Aidan Plummer finished the contest, getting the final two outs. He allowed one run on two hits.
Game 2: Dartmouth 13, Manhattan 2
The Big Green wasted no time getting on the board in game two, plating nine runs over the first two innings en route to the 13-2 seven-inning victory.
Dartmouth plated two runs in the first as back-to-back walks and a sacrifice bunt put two runners in scoring position with only one out. Tyler Sirchia continued to impress at the plate, extending his hitting streak to five games with a two-run single, giving the Big Green an early lead.
The Jaspers got one back in the top half of the second on a solo home run, but the Big Green exploded for seven runs in their half of the inning, building an eight-run lead.
Manhattan recorded the first out, but a single, walk, and another single loaded the bases. Sam Andersen was hit by the pitch to score one and Milo Suarez singled to score another, as Dartmouth took a 4-1 lead and still had the bases loaded.
Sirchia added more RBI to his tally, driving in two more runs to make it a 6-1 game.
Jack Espiritu-Niswonger also singled to score another run before Chris Miller drove in Sirchia on a sacrifice fly as the Big Green extended their lead to seven and forced a pitching change.
Dartmouth added one more run off the new pitcher as Taer Rodriguez recorded his second single of the inning to score Niswonger as the Big Green finished the third inning with a 9-1 lead.
The Jaspers were able to get back on the scoreboard in the fourth, capitalizing on a leadoff walk.
It remained a 9-2 game for the next two innings, before the Big Green bats came to life again. Rodriguez drew a bases loaded walk to score one before Alejandro Puig ripped a bases clearing double to put the Big Green up by 11.
The Jaspers had one more shot to pull closer in the seventh, but Trey Sejnoha struck out two of the final three batters he faced to secure the 13-2 win for the Big Green.
Marco Dumsky started on the mound for the Big Green, tossing five innings and allowing two runs on two hits. He also struck out six but dealt five walks.
Sejnoha pitched the final two innings for the Big Green, bringing his weekly tally to seven. He allowing only one hit, walked one, and fanned two Jaspers in his scoreless outing.
Up Next: Dartmouth baseball will conclude the series and its 2026 home games on Sunday, playing a single game against the Jaspers. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
