ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Army West Point women's lacrosse fell by a score of 17-11 to Navy (18-1, 8-1 Patriot League) on Saturday afternoon at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Army (14-4, 8-1 Patriot League) was led by senior Brigid Duffy's seven goals. She set the program's new postseason program record for goals and points.

How It Happened

  • The Midshipmen started the scoring for the game, but the Black Knights responded with a goal of their own from the crosse of senior Brigid Duffy. Duffy ran down the Navy defender in the midfield with a knocked the ball loose. The ball was picked up by senior Chloe Garrett, who passed it up ahead to Duffy who beat the Navy goalkeeper one on one to tie it up.

  • Navy scored two more to make it 3-1 but the Black Knights tied it up at 3-3 off two free position goals from junior Ryan Remaly and Duffy. The Mids scored another before the end of the first quarter.

  • Coming into the second quarter, Navy scored five straight goals to make it 9-3. Duffy scored her third of the day at 3:18 left in the first half to cut into the Navy lead. Navy added another at the end of the half to make it 10-4.

  • The Black Knights struck first coming out of halftime with a man-up goal down low that beat the Navy goalkeeper as she came out of the net from the stick of Garrett

  • Navy added another tally to make it 12-5 but Army responded with Duffy's fourth of the day as she ran it thru two Navy defenders and took a sidearm shot on the run to make it 12-6.

  • At 6:09 in the third quarter, senior Allison Reilly on the left elbow connected with senior Lily Valentini on the flash cut inside. Valentini buried it inside as she was sandwiched by two Navy defender and falling to make it 12-7.

  • The Midshipmen went on a three-goal run at the end of the third quarter to make it 15-7.

  • In the fourth quarter, Duffy split two defender and beat the Navy goalkeeper for her fifth of the day to make it 15-8. The Mids added two more to make it 17-8.

  • The Black Knights scored the next three goals to make it 17-11. Duffy would add two more to finish the game with seven. Senior Emma Grace Hepler added her first of her career against Navy on the man-down.
