Tigers Set New PRs in Strong Showing at Wake Forest

Tigers Set New PRs in Strong Showing at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – With the Tigers setting multiple personal records, the Princeton women's track and field team competed at the Wake Forest Invitational on Thursday and Friday in Winston-Salem, N.C.

With the distance squad representing the Orange & Black, the Tigers competed in the 800m, the 1500m and the 5000m races. Pia Beaulieu also represented the Tigers in the steeplechase.

Meg Madison set a new outdoor best in the 5000m, running 16:06.69 to take ninth on the program all-time leaderboard.

Emma De Jong and first-year Caroline Barton also finished fourth and fifth in the 5000m Invite 2, running 16:13.22 and 16:13.78, respectively. For Barton, the performance marked a new personal best.

Hannah Riggins ran a season-best 4:15.08 in the 1500m Invite 5, taking seventh. In section three, Maddie Cramer set a new personal best, 4:22.84, for ninth and Olivia Martin ran a season-best 4:29.08 for 11th.

Both Martin and Riggins had NCAA top-50 performances in the 800 as well, with Martin running 2:05.06 and Riggins running 2:05.25. For Martin, she jumps up from 10th to seventh in the Princeton record book with the time.

Beaulieu also shaved ten seconds off her 3000m steeplechase time, running 10:20.79 for fifth place. Just her second time competing in the event, the mark puts her eighth in the all-time Princeton leaderboard. The mark is an improvement from her first competition in the event last weekend at Sam Howell, which saw the junior run 10:30.86.

With the Tigers split this weekend between Wake Forest and UVA for the Virginia Challenge, the sprints and throws squads will close out competition in Charlottesville, Va. tomorrow.
