Klebe Sets School Record, Sanders and Wilson Win Gold in Two Meet Weekend
Lehigh women's track and field split their team in two for the weekend of April 3 and 4. Part of the squad traveled to Princeton University to face off in the Sam Howell Invitational, and the rest of the team stayed locally to compete in the Muhlenberg Outdoor Invitational on Friday.

PRINCETON, N.J - Lehigh women's track and field split their team in two for the weekend of April 3 and 4. Part of the squad traveled to Princeton University to face off in the Sam Howell Invitational, and the rest of the team stayed locally to compete in the Muhlenberg Outdoor Invitational on Friday.
Sam Howell Invitational
Abby Klebe added another school record to her arsenal in Princeton. The senior ran 4:22.32 to lower her personal best by half a second and rise to become the fastest 1500 meter runner in Lehigh history. She placed second overall at the meet. Lauryn Heskin was one of two other Mountain Hawks to place within the top 10. The graduate student placed fifth, running a personal record to do so. She clocked 4:26.11, making her the third fastest 1500 meter runner in team history. Grace Hughes placed ninth, running 4:28.76.
Lehigh's only event win came in the 400 meter event. Jade Sanders ran a 0.79-second personal best to pace the field. The sophomore's time of 54.91 improved upon her second-fastest time in Lehigh history. The Mountain Hawks had two other top ten finishers in the event. Kasey White finished sixth at 57.35, and Kayleigh Jamieson ran 58.03 to place ninth. Sanders was Lehigh's top runner in the 200 as well. She placed 12th, crossing the line at 24.96. Gianna Mangili placed 15th in the event, running 25.03. This time was a personal record for the senior, moving her up to sixth on Lehigh's all-time outdoor performance list.
Seniors Grace Aggen, Grace Nation, and Laura Reigle all earned third place finishes in the field. Reigle placed third in the pole vault, clearing the 3.85-meter bar. Aggen earned third in the shot put, throwing 14.46 meters. She also placed fifth in the discus throw, hurling the disc 43.16 meters. Nation set a personal record to take third in the triple jump. She jumped 12.02 meters, improving her third all-time in Lehigh history distance by eight centimeters. She also placed ninth in the long jump, leaping 5.39 meters.
Grace Kennedy was the runner-up in the 400 meter hurdles, running 1:01.05. Lanae Carrington finished sixth in the event, crossing the line in 1:04.49.
Lucy Afanasewicz placed sixth in the elite 800 meter field. The senior ran 2:14.55, lowered her outdoor personal best by over two seconds. The Mountain Hawks had two top finishers in the open 800 meter section as well. Amber Barrios finished as the runner-up, running 2:13.12. Lily Schindler won her heat to lace eighth overall. The first-year lowered her personal best from indoor season down to 2:14.60.
Devon Sutton came away with a huge personal best to take eighth in the 5000 meter race. The junior ran 17:29.79, lowering her personal record by 12.6 seconds.
First-years Harper Glennon and Faith Schiffer each finished in the top 15 in their respective 100 meter-long events. Schiffer placed 11th over hurdles, running 14.74. This was a personal record for her, making her the 10th fastest 100 meter hurdler in team history. Glennon placed 15th in the flat 100 meter dash, running 12.23.
Lehigh earned two top-five finishes in the relay events. The team consisting of Adelaide Videon-Perino, Corinn Brewer, Anna Troutman, and Maggie Sclazo earned bronze in the 4x400 meter relay, running 4:00.96. The Mountain Hawks placed fourth in the 4x100 meter relay. Scalzo, Glennon, Mangili, and Schiffer collectively ran a lap around the track in 47.74 seconds, which equals the fifth best 4x100 meter relay in history.
Muhlenberg Outdoor Invitational
Aurora Wilson was Lehigh's only event champion in Allentown. The junior ran the 800 meters in 2:19.43, a new personal record. The Mountain Hawks had two other top five finishers, both first-years who lowered their own personal bests. Sophia Lee placed third with a time of 2:23.19, and Courtney Cane ran 2:26.08 to finish fifth.
Lehigh also placed multiple athletes in the top five in two different throwing events. Peyton Lewis and Melani Dowling placed sequentially in the javelin throw to secure top placements. Lewis threw 30.54 meters to land fourth, and Dowling placed fifth with a 29.55-meter throw. In the shot put, Avery Hogan threw a personal best 11.39 meters to place as the runner-up. Alyson Marmor took fourth, tossing the shot 10.91 meters. The sophomore also placed well in the discus throw, as Marmor threw 31.73 meters to earn sixth.
The Mountain Hawks had runners place second and sixth in each of the two long distance events they competed in. Brenna Dahlgren was the runner up in the 5000 meter run, crossing the line at 19:09.28. Emerson Skatell ran 20:32.53 in her first college track 5k, finishing sixth. Jaqueline Gifford was the runner-up in the 1500 meter, lowering her personal record to 4:54.23. Katelyn Nolan ran 5:03.40 in her outdoor college debut, placing her sixth. Elisa Brear placed tenth in the event, running 5:13.47
Lehigh divides its squad again next weekend. The Mountain Hawks will head to Piscataway, N.J. to compete at Rutgers Relays on Saturday, April 11, and also to Bucknell to compete in the Bison Outdoor Classic on April 11-12.
