WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team won a lopsided 20-0 showdown at Colby on Friday afternoon to begin the series.
The Polar Bears (14-17, 4-6 NESCAC) kept their playoff hopes alive with the win. The Mules sport a matching conference record and sit at 18-12 overall. Bowdoin last hit the 20-run milestone in 2023. The program record of sits at 34 runs against Western Connecticut State in 2006.

After three scoreless innings, Bowdoin exploded with a five-run fourth to take the lead.

Liam Foley led off the inning with a single up the middle and quickly came home on a two-run blast by Will Bordes.

Lukas Tsai added a two-run single up the middle and later scored on an RBI by Wim Nook.

Bowdoin made it 7-0 in the fifth off another Nook ball, this time a two-run single to right.

The bats kept producing for the Polar Bears in the sixth as the team added five more runs. Will Cooke had an RBI single that resulted in a bases-loaded situation. Reuben Siegel followed up with a grand slam to right.

Pitching plagued the Mules in the seventh as Bowdoin scored on consecutively on a wild pitch and passed ball to make it 14-0. The gates blew open as Bowdoin scored six more runs and ended the game 20-0 in seven innings.

Jackson Melendy pitched a seven inning shutout. The junior allowed five hits and fanned a matching number of batters.

Siegel went 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBI off the grand slam.
